Togg of Turkey will launch a "digital device" before an electric vehicle

According to its CEO Gürcan Karakaş, Turkey's Automobile Joint Venture Group (Togg), which is building the nation's first totally electric automobile, aims to be more than just a car manufacturer. Instead, it wants to be a technological firm with a focus on mobility.

Although it is still "early to disclose information on this issue," the company plans to release a smart gadget before releasing its C-segment SUV, which was to be the first version of the Togg to go on sale, he said.

KarakaÅŸ was discussing the production of the car, which he also referred to as a "smart device," with Anadolu Agency (AA) as he discussed the most recent advancements at Togg's facilities in Gemlik, a province of Bursa in Turkey's northwest.

When the Gemlik facilities are ready for mass production, KarakaÅŸ stated, "Then, the process of meeting the technical conditions (homologation) essential to reach the market will begin," adding that the first mass-produced vehicle will leave the band in the final quarter of this year.

"We intend to put it on the roads at the end of the first quarter of 2023 after this process is finished."

The 208 robots in our body construction at our Gemlik factory started to be ready for trial production after partial trials on a cell basis, KarakaÅŸ added, noting that the work at the facility is proceeding as expected. The chemical filling stage was initiated at our paint shop, which is the cleanest in all of Europe and where the first unpainted experiments were conducted on the C-SUV body.

In the last quarter of this year, "our facilities will be ready for mass production," he declared.

KarakaÅŸ further mentioned that construction on the Togg smart and rapid charging infrastructure has begun.

"We will bring into service over 1,000 fast charging stations with 2,000 outlets at more than 600 places in 81 provinces before our first vehicles leave the assembly line," he stated.

Five different models will be produced by Togg from a single platform, with a goal of producing 1 million vehicles overall by 2030.
